a creature feature on steroids!

THE SYNOPSIS

Get ready for shellshock! It’s the ZOMBEAVERS meets GODZILLA hybrid you always craved in the creature feature comedy horror of the year. Mutated by nuclear runoff, a horde of murderous horseshoe crabs descend on a sleepy California town causing Prom Night terror. As the deadly crustaceans claw their way through the disbelieving population, it’s up to a ramshackle band of students and local law enforcement to address the increasingly ginormous crab menace in a love letter to such practical effects horrors as GREMLINS and nostalgic Roger Corman classics.

  • “Crabs! is totally stupid but stupid in the most clever, brilliant, FUN (this film is really, REALLY, fun!) way.”

    Phil Wheat
    nerdly.co.uk

  • “massive potential here for a cult following”

    Martin Unsworth
    starburstmagazine.com

  • “Berolzheimer’s sense of humour is a pretty baffling beast to behold”

    Ben Robins
    heyuguys.com

  • “Crabs! is exactly what you’re looking for if you’re hoping for ludicrous entertainment”

    Sean Parker
    horrorobsessive.com

  • “From the science-run-amok flicks of the 50s to the “little creature” horror comedies of the 80s and just a dash of the comically sincere special effects work of kaiju flicks, the film manages to synthesize all these elements into a delightful experience that makes the perfect movie night pick”

    Dustin Dunaway
    grimoireofhorror.com

  • “Berolzheimer is simply not interested in realism or narrative logic.”

    Anton Bitel
    vodzilla.co

  • “funny, schlocky and very, very moist”

    Christopher Lloyd
    substack.com

  • “There’s just a sweet, weird silliness to everything in Crabs!”

  • “Crabs! is long on laughs, love, and proof that heroes can come from the most unexpected places.”

    Carissa Pavlica
    tvfanatic.com

  • “It’s a fun flick, no question about it. But it’s also a proud statement by someone who understands the rulebook of Hollywood and does everything at hand to give the industry a middle finger. All this without much intention. I’m quite sure they just want to have fun. And that they did.”

about the film makers

Pierce McDermott Berolzheimer

Director/ Writer/Editor/Producer

Got his start making weird stop-motion animations based on classic literature in lieu of writing papers in grade school. In college, he convinced his professors to let him study film independently, going off on his own to make excessively gory horror films, surprisingly for credit.

Pierce's first taste of indie film production began on the set of the award-winning film Sun Belt Express (2014), starting as a lowly intern and finishing production as a Co-Producer. He immediately followed that up by Co-Producing the sci-fi thriller Diverge (2016). He has also worked on various BBC nature documentaries, including Life of Cold Blood alongside David Attenborough.

Ever the optimist, Pierce set out in 2015 to make his directorial debut with an insanely ambitious creature feature—with a large cast, multiple locations, and demanding visual effects. Little did he know just how humbling (yet massively rewarding) this seven-year journey would be.

Pierce is thrilled to finally release his creation into the wild - and really hopes it consumes and captivates everyone in its path.
